Hello!
Sorry it's been so long
since I've made a peep.
Hope you haven't given up on me.
I'm
happy and excited to tell you that
my new Making Faces
album has won Best Children's Release in the 2001 West
Coast Music Awards in Canada and a Parents
Choice Approved Award in the U.S

There's lots of different stuff on this album:
things to dance to,
things to sing along with,
mysteries to solve,
and if my giggling calculations are correct,
there's lots of things to
just sit down and have a good laugh over.
I hope you like it.
Please let me know your favourite songs!
There's 11 new ones and
a brand new year 2000 version of
the Yo Mo Concerto.
We had so much fun making
the little booklet that goes
along with the CD.
It's 16 pages in full colour and
no two pages are alike!
I drew a lot of the songtitles and
did some drawings
(check them out, it was really fun to do!)
and Keri Burk did some drawings
and Valley Hennell and
computer artist Graham Mason
spent hour and hours to
make it just wonderful for you.
Ever since I was a little boy
I've made faces every day in the mirror
so I think I'm getting
really good and it.
I want you to know that that's
my real face on the cover of the new CD,
not a computer manipulation!
Next time I see you,
ask me and I'll make my face for you
and you can show me your funniest face.
Did you know making faces is good
for your face?
I asked my doctor and he told me
how many muscles it takes to
make different faces so I could
put that in the song too.
The day we took the pictures for the CD
we took a bunch of me making different
faces and then I went out and had
my hair cut off and came back and
made them all again.
Oh, and check out the lettering!
I tried to make the words look like
they feel, you might want to
try doing that for yourself.
Over the next months I'll be telling
you all kinds of stories about the
album and how it got made,
who's on it, etc.
Here's one!
The words
Song For My Dearest Friend
were sent to me on a postcard
from London, England by my friend
China who was going to art school there.
I liked the words so much I just
had to set them to music.
And guess what?
China also made the fool's cap
I'm wearing on the cover of
Philharmonic
Fool!
She hand painted the material and
designed and made me
that wonderful hat!
She made me a robe too and
when I wear it I look like a wizard!
Who does that remind you of?
I'm going to be doing lots of
shows around BC to celebrate my new CD.
You can find out when and where
by clicking on Tour Dates.
I hope I'll see you soon.
If not, please write me a letter or
send me an email and
I will write you back.
Ta ta for now, be cool and
take care of yourself.
Your friend
